“I am going to make everything around me beautiful—that will be my life.” — Elsie de Wolfe
Elizabeth Ulrich || Dallas, Texas Art Director
My Mission as an Art Director
My passion is rooted in impactful visual storytelling. Whether I’m concepting catalogs, lookbooks or marketing campaigns, my creative mantra remains the same: I will make everything around me beautiful—and I’ll be kind, collaborative and efficient while I do it.
In my 14 years as a stylist-turned-art-director, I’ve worked with a wide range of clients, including Tom Ford, The Container Store, Loloi Rugs, Surya, Magnolia Home and The Magnolia Journal (where I’ve contributed as a Market Editor), Glamour Magazine and more, which you can find in my Client List.
I consider myself a Type-A creative. My attention to detail, organization and planning/production skills are just as strong as my passion for creating visual narratives that inspire ideas and sell products.
What Sets My Creative Work Apart?
I’m a chameleon who has logged countless hours on set since 2011, when I started working as a freelance photo stylist. When it comes to photo and video shoots, I’ve done it all—art direction, set design, styling, production, location scouting, wardrobe, shot lists and call sheets. I’ve even schlepped a sofa up a ladder into a treehouse. I am a workhouse who loves collaborating with clients and creative teams to find new ways to market products and create impactful work. I also love a challenge, thrive in fast-paced environments and pride myself in performing well under pressure.

My Story
I’m the daughter of a wood-working entrepreneur and a make-do-and-mend mother. I grew up in a Texas town of less than 1,000 in a home built in the early 1800s. After high school, I roamed the country, living a life where everything I owned fit in my car and landing in cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City and Portland, Oregon.
After grad school, I moved to Nashville for a writing fellowship and fell in love with the city. Following a decade-long journalism career, I launched and franchised a vintage prop rental company, which I shuttered to focus solely on prop styling and freelance art direction.
I recently moved to back to my home state, where I live with two mischievous rescues—a dog and a cat—in a house filled with foraged flower arrangements and vintage finds.
